My name is Joseph Lillis and I am the Executive Director of the internationally recognized, award-winning Sausalito Art Festival and one of the first juried fine art festivals in the nation. The Sausalito Art Festival is held annually in Sausalito, California and has gained national recognition as the number one outdoor fine art festival in the nation and is considered one of the "best" and "most prestigious" fine art festivals in the United States by both artists and collectors worldwide.
Over one million visitors from around the world have experienced the Sausalito Art Festival since its inaugural in 1952. The Festival showcases the world's finest art and crafts, as well as performing and culinary arts. Each year, a jury of award-winning artists views the work of 1,200 qualified applicants to select the best 270 Artists from throughout the world to exhibit in the Festival. From functional to surreal, witty to the elegantly decorative, these one-of-a-kind and limited edition Art Works form an unparalleled collection that can only be seen once a year.
Because of my active role at the Sausalito Art Festival, I am constantly on the lookout for extraordinary contemporary artists who have achieved worldwide success for their innovative work. It is in this capacity that I first came to recognize the work of Gulten Imamoglu of Turkey, who is at the height of the contemporary art scene. Ms. Imamogluís work was selected from among thousands of qualified and highly talented artists globally for showcasing in this yearís Sausalito Art Festival.
